Removing And Installing Connecting Link

  1. Anti-roll bar
  2. Anti-roll bar mount
  3. Clip
  4. Fastening screws
  5. Connecting link
  6. Fastening nut
  7. Fastening screw
WARNING: Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly
  • Risk of squashing
  • Risk of damage to components

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).

Information 

The spring strut screws are under tension. Carefully lever out the lower spring strut connection.

  1. Raise the wheel carrier with a suitable lift until the fastening screw -2-  on the connecting link -1-  can be removed easily from the wheel bearing housing (spring strut threaded joint). Use a lift with a rubber base → see Fig 2 to prevent slipping.

  2. Loosen the connecting link -1-  at the anti-roll bar -3-  and remove it.

    Information 

    • The entire threaded parts of the axle must be tightened in vehicle position. Vehicle position means: vehicle standing on its wheels, or the wheel suspension is raised with a universal vehicle lift. Dimension -X-  , from lower edge of wing to centre of wheel → Control value: 506 mm+/-10 mm corresponds to vehicle position.

    • Carry out a visual inspection of all parts. 
    • Replace self-locking nuts. 
    • Replace all expansion screws (screws fitted using torque angle tightening procedure). 
    • Use correct tightening torques and torque angle  . → WM 4200TW TIGHTENING TORQUES FOR REAR AXLE 
    • Make sure the bevel pinions from the ball joints are clean. Clean with a lint-free cloth if necessary. Do not use cleaning agent. 

Installation is performed in reverse order.
