Removing Actuating Cylinder For Rear Lid

→ Do not disconnect plug-in couplings while opening or closing the rear lid.

→ Secure the lid mechanically to prevent it from closing before disconnecting plug-in couplings.

→ Do not short-circuit plug-in couplings.

→ Do not operate the system while plug-in couplings are disconnected.

→ Do not press actuating cylinder in or pull it out manually when the hydraulic unit is removed.

→ Protect hydraulic system from contamination.

1. Insert a plastic wedge between the body and left hinge cover and carefully unclip the hinge cover -arrow-  and remove it.

   NOTE: Incorrect line routing

   • Risk of damage to lines and hoses
   • Malfunction and fault memory entry on control unit

   → Avoid small bending radii when routing lines.

   → File down edges and burrs in the routing area or mask them with adhesive tape.

   → Maintain a sufficient distance from components exposed to high temperatures while driving.

   NOTE: Incorrect line routing

   • Risk of damage to lines and hoses
   • Malfunction and fault memory entry on control unit

   → Avoid small bending radii when routing lines.

   → File down edges and burrs in the routing area or mask them with adhesive tape.

   → Maintain a sufficient distance from components exposed to high temperatures while driving.

2. Fold oil pressure lines -1-  over close to the plug-in couplings -2-  and wrap them with adhesive tape -3-  .

3. Loosen Velcro fastener -1-  at the top -arrow A-  and unclip oil pressure lines -2-  from the bottom up to remove them from the holders -3- (-arrows B-)  .

4. Press rubber sleeve -1-  out with your hand in -arrowrichtung A-  and pull oil pressure lines -2-  out of the roof frame at the rear -arrow B-  .

5. Loosen actuating cylinder at the lid hinge side.

   1. 5.1. Insert a screwdriver through the opening on the rear lid hinge and push it in between the actuating cylinder -1-  and safety clip -2- (-arrow A-). 
   2. 5.2. Loosen the safety clip -2-  by turning the -arrow-  screwdriver. The safety clip remains on the actuating cylinder.
   3. 5.3. Pull the actuating cylinder -1-  off the ball head -arrow B-  .
6. Loosen actuating cylinder at the body side.

   1. 6.1. Insert the pliers Nr.70  between the actuating cylinder -1-  and safety clip -2- (-arrow A-). 
   2. 6.2. Loosen the safety clip -2-  by turning the pliers -arrow-  . The safety clip remains on the actuating cylinder.
   3. 6.3. Pull the actuating cylinder -1-  off the ball head -arrow B-  .
7. Slide actuating cylinder -1-  back -arrow A-  and remove it by pulling it forwards out of the roof frame -arrow B-  .
