Installing A-Pillar Reinforcement

- A-pillar reinforcement
- Filler plate for upper carrier
Information
- The seal between the A-pillar reinforcement and inner A-pillar must be inserted from inside before installing the A-pillar reinforcement.
- Fit seal on the bottom of the A-pillar reinforcement.
- 1.1. On the seal -3- , apply body sealing compound -2- Wurth Klebt und Dichtet body sealing compound . Maintain the application depth -V- → Application depth: 10 mm .
- 1.2. Place seal -3- on the A-pillar reinforcement -1- from inside (-arrows- ) and secure with the locking lugs.
- 1.3. On the seal -3- , apply body sealing compound -2- Wurth Klebt und Dichtet body sealing compound . Maintain the application depth -V- → Application depth: 10 mm .
- Apply body sealant on the A-pillar.
- 2.1. Apply Wurth Klebt und Dichtet body sealing compound in area -A- on the inner A-pillar. Maintain the application depth -V- → Application depth: 10 mm .
- Insert and fit A-pillar reinforcement on the body.
- 3.1. Secure A-pillar reinforcement on the straightening set.
- 3.2. Fix A-pillar reinforcement in place on the body using tensioning clamps.
- Weld in A-pillar reinforcement on the outside of the body.
- 4.1. Plug-weld the A-pillar reinforcement in area -A-
using inert gas.

Information
- These areas are only tacked with individual spotwelds. A full weld is applied when installing the front side section.
- 4.2. Resistance spot-weld the A-pillar reinforcement in areas -B and C- .
- 4.1. Plug-weld the A-pillar reinforcement in area -A-
using inert gas.
- Grind down MIG spot welds in area -A- .
- Weld in A-pillar reinforcement on the inside of the body.
- 6.1. Weld inner A-pillar in area -A- using inert gas.
- Install lower side member reinforcement. → Installing Lower Side Member Reinforcement
