Removing drive shaft

NOTE:
  • Removal and installation applies to Tiptronic and all manual transmissions.

1. Fit protective tube for drive shaft (shop-made tube to protect against mechanical damage).

Remove drive shafts at transmission side (six hexagon socket head bolts).

2. Use universal drive shaft/wheel hub extractor as of model '86 NR.87-1  to carefully press out the pin of the drive shaft until the shaft can be moved by hand. → Pressing out drive shaft  , See Fig 2.

3. Remove (pull out) drive shaft.
