Installing windscreen frame

1. Fitting lower windscreen frame to the body

1.1. Fit the lower windscreen frame to the body and fix in place with tensioning clamps.

2. Welding in the lower windscreen frame

2.1. Resistance spot-weld the lower windscreen frame in area -A-  . See Fig 1.

3. Welding in the lower windscreen frame at the left and right

3.1. Resistance spot-weld the lower windscreen frame at the left and right in areas -A, B, C-  . See Fig 9.

4. Welding in the lower windscreen frame at the left and right

4.1. Plug-weld the lower windscreen frame at the left and right in areas -A-  and -B-  using inert gas. See Fig 9.

4.2. Apply a full weld to the lower windscreen frame at the left and right in area -C-  using inert gas. See Fig 9.

NOTE: To guarantee the exact positioning of the hinge pillar reinforcement and the outer hinge pillar, it is essential that the windscreen frame is fitted and measured correctly according to the adjustment dimensions before being welded in.
  • Adjustment dimension -X= 599 mm +/- 2 mm-  measured at the center of the vehicle between the upper edge of the lower windscreen frame and the lower edge of the upper windscreen frame See Fig 4.
  • Adjustment dimension -Y= 1321 mm +/- 2 mm-  measured diagonally between the inner lower windscreen frame and the radius center point of the inner upper windscreen frame. See Fig 4.

5. Fitting the inner windscreen frame to the body at the left and right

5.1. Fit the inner windscreen frame to the body at the left and right and fix in place with tensioning clamps.

6. Fitting the upper windscreen frame to the inner windscreen frame at the left and right

6.1. Fit the upper windscreen frame to the inner windscreen frame at the left and right and fix in place with tensioning clamps.

7. Welding in the inner windscreen frame at the left and right

7.1. Apply a full weld to the inner windscreen frame at the left and right in area -A-  using inert gas. See Fig 5.

8. Welding in the inner windscreen frame at the left and right

8.1. Resistance spot-weld the inner windscreen frame at the left and right in area -A-  . See Fig 6.

9. Welding in the inner windscreen frame at the left and right

9.1. Apply a full weld to the inner windscreen frame at the left and right in area -A-  using inert gas. See Fig 7.

10. Welding in the upper windscreen frame

10.1. Resistance spot-weld the upper windscreen frame in areas -A-  and -B-  . See Fig 8.

11. Welding in cowl panel reinforcement

11.1. Resistance spot-weld the cowl panel reinforcement in areas -A-  and -B-  . See Fig 9.

12. Install hinge pillar reinforcement at the left and right. → 516255 Replacing hinge pillar reinforcement - section on "Installing"
