Removing And Installing Seal For Convertible Top Compartment Lid

Preliminary work

Remove right and left side trim panels. Refer to Removing and installing side trim panel.

Removing seal for convertible-top compartment lid

1. Move convertible top to position shown in the illustration.







2. Unscrew fixing clip -1- and slightly pull out rubber seal for door -2-.







3. Unscrew fastening screws -1- in area of B-pillar on right and left and gently lift seal for convertible top compartment lid -2-.







4. Remove seal for convertible top compartment lid from the flanges -1- at the side panels -Arrow A-, at the corner pieces -Arrow B- and with the engine compartment bulkhead -Arrow C-.

Installing seal for convertible-top compartment lid

INFORMATION:
- Before replacing, check the existing seal for signs of damage (areas torn, crushed, etc.). If there are signs of damage, the seal must be replaced.
- The seal is pressed onto the flange without any additional sealants.

1. Lay seal for convertible top compartment lid -1- evenly along the flange. Position and press the seal without any tension on the flanges to the side panel -Arrow A-, corner pieces -Arrow B- and to the engine compartment bulkhead -Arrow C-.







2. Position seal for convertible top compartment lid -2- in area of B-pillar and secure with fastening screws -1-.







3. Stick rubber seal for door -2- on the B-pillar and press in fixing clip -1- through both seals.







INFORMATION: Pay particular attention to the areas near the tight roundings for correct installation; there must be no deformation or stretching.

4. Check installation is correct.
5. Close convertible top.

Subsequent work

Install right and left side trim panels. Refer to Removing and installing side trim panel.
