Disassembling And Assembling Rear Apron (I-No. XAL)

Preliminary work

1. Remove rear spoiler. Refer to Removing and installing rear spoiler

INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with ParkAssist.

2. Remove sensor for ParkAssist. Refer to Removing and installing sensor for ParkAssist
3. Remove number plate light. Refer to Removing and installing number plate light
4. Remove wiring harness for number plate light. Refer to Removing and installing wire for number plate light

INFORMATION: Only for USA/Canada version vehicles.

5. Remove rear bumper horn. Refer to Removing and installing rear bumper horn

Disassembling rear apron

Removing support







INFORMATION:
- When removing the support, do not loosen the retaining clips by placing the screwdriver between the retaining clips and the rear end ribs.
- Use new retaining clips for installation.

1. Move retaining clips -3- as far as possible to one side and open up retaining clips with a screwdriver -4- ( -arrow A- ). Remove retaining clips -3-.







2. Disengage support -2- in -direction of arrow B- to remove it from the rear apron -1-.

Removing cap

1. Carefully press out the cap -2- with a screwdriver.







2. Pull the securing cord -3- for the cap out of the rear apron -1- ( -arrow- ).

Removing covering frame

1. Release covering frame -1- by pressing the locking lugs and remove it from the rear apron -2- ( -arrow- ).







Removing lower retaining strip

1. Drill out rivets -2- and pull off lower retaining strip -1- ( -arrow- ).







Assembling rear apron

Installing lower retaining strip

1. Push on lower retaining strip -1- and secure with tubular rivets -2-.







Installing covering frame

1. Position the covering frame -1- on the rear apron -2- and press it in -arrow- until the locking lugs engage.







Installing cap

1. Pull the securing cord -3- into the eyelet on the rear apron -2- ( -arrow- ).







2. Clip cap -2- into the rear apron -1-.

Installing support

1. Fit support -2- in -direction of arrow A-, align it and press the new retaining clips -3- on to secure it to the rear apron -1- ( -arrow B- ).







Subsequent work

INFORMATION: Only for USA/Canada version vehicles.

1. Install rear bumper horn. Refer to Removing and installing rear bumper horn
2. Install wiring harness for number plate light. Refer to Removing and installing wire for number plate light
3. Install number plate lights. Refer to Removing and installing number plate light

INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with ParkAssist.

4. Install sensor for ParkAssist. Refer to Removing and installing sensor for ParkAssist
5. Install rear spoiler. Refer to Removing and installing rear spoiler
