Removing sealing bellows of the steering column

- To remove and install the sealing bellows, the steering column must be removed.
- To do this, the catalytic converter on the side of the steering column must be removed. Refer to 26 73 19 Removing and installing (main) catalytic converter - as of MY 2004 (Cayenne TIP, Cayenne MAN) . Refer to 26 73 19 Removing and installing (main) catalytic converter - as of MY 2003 (Cayenne S TIP, Cayenne S MAN, Cayenne Turbo, Cayenne Turbo S, Cayenne S TIO Titan) .
- When the intermediate steering shaft has been separated, make sure that everything remains extremely clean. The grease on the individual parts must not be wiped off. If these individual parts are stored for a long period of time, they must be protected from dust and dirt.

2. Both parts of the intermediate steering shaft must be marked for assembly -color dots- . This ensures that both sections will not be installed offset. See Fig 2.
3. Disconnect the steering column at the intermediate steering shaft. The lower steering shaft can be pulled from the upper steering shaft with a brief jerk at the pressure point. See Fig 3.
4. Remove the sealing bellows of the steering column.
