  • Problem-free functioning until the convertible top is almost closed, it is then necessary to pull on the gripper to lock it completely

Close convertible top, soak with water and allow to dry in closed position (at least 10 hours)
->End
Step 2
2 Preparatory work for step 3:
  • Ignition on

Select and call up the following 9 input signals:
  • Closure locked
  • Closure unlocked
  • Convertible top
  • Convertible-top compartment lid
  • Side flap top right
  • Side flap bottom right
  • Side flap top left
  • Side flap bottom left
  • Latching hook

  • Close convertible top completely until it has reached its final position
  • Check switch positions
The following switches indicate "closed":
  • Closure locked
  • Side flap bottom right
  • Side flap bottom left

The following switches indicate "open":
  • Closure not unlocked
  • Convertible top not raised
  • Convertible-top compartment lid locked
  • Side flap not top right
  • Side flap not top left
  • Latching hook actuated

Step 4
If one or more switch postions are not as described above, the respective switch or wire is faulty
Carry out test as described in fault code 1
4 Check switch positions when convertible top is open
  • Open convertible top completely until it has reached its final position
  • Check switch positions
The following switches indicate "closed":
  • Closure locked
  • Convertible top raised
  • Side flap top right
  • Side flap top left

  • Ignition on
  • Call up data logger in the Input signals menu in Porsche System Tester II 9588
  • Select and call up actual value Pot. 1 convertible top
Step 6
6 Check voltage characteristic from Pot.1 convertible top while opening and closing
  • Close convertible top completely until it has reached its final position and open it again
  • observe the voltage characteristic in the process
  • repeat the process if necessary
The voltage characteristic has a continuous path (similar to that illustrated in the figure below) and changes over the exact period of time in which the convertible top is moving in the rear area
Step 7
The voltage characteristic no longer changes even though the convertible top is still moving in the rear area
Carry out test as described in error code 1
NOTE:
  • Fig 1 illustrates the voltage characteristics upon opening the convertible top!
  • The voltage characteristics upon closing the convertible top result in a mirror image!

Step 8
8 Check voltage characteristic from Pot.1 convertible-top compartment lid while opening and closing
  • Close convertible top completely until it has reached its final position and open it again
  • observe the voltage characteristic in the process
  • repeat the process if necessary
