New drive shafts - notes: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- The following changes apply to the 911 Carrera/911 Carrera 4/911 Carrera 4S (but not to the GT3/GT2/911 Turbo).
As of the current '02 model (for exact delimitation see the spare parts catalogue), light-weight monobloc drive shafts -B- are being used instead of friction-welded drive shafts -A- in all 911 Carrera (996) models with manual and Tiptronic transmission. See Fig 1 . Drive shafts -A and B- differ with regard to dimensions -1 and 2- while dimension -3- is the same in both drive shafts.
Manual transmissions and Tiptronic drive shafts also differ with regard to length in both the monobloc version -A- and the friction-welded version -B- (see the spare parts catalogue). See Fig 1 . To distinguish between the two, new drive shafts are labelled accordingly.
