Notes On Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Remove brake disc, parking brake shoes, brake disc cover and speed sensor.
  2. Press the rear-wheel hub out using press-out mandrel P 297 a. Use the separator as a support. If there is not enough space for the wheel hub between the press, appropriate shims will additionally be necessary.

  3. Remove retainer plate (lid) (four screws).
  4. Heat wheel bearing housing to approx. 100°C (max. 120°C). Press out wheel bearing with tubular piece VW 415A (tool -C-  ).

    NOTE:
    • Pull the inner bearing race several millimeters off the wheel hub so that the separator can be put into place.

    • For this purpose, use a two-claw puller in combination with a suitable pressure piece (e.g. VW 433).
  5. Press inner wheel bearing race off the wheel hub. Use the press-out mandrel P 297 a in connection with the separator.
