Notes On Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Before installation, clean the bore in the wheel bearing housing and remove any surface irregularities with a polishing cloth.
  2. Heat wheel bearing housing to approx. 100 °C (max. 120 °C). Insert new wheel bearing, and then press again slightly using pressure piece 9247/3 -D-  and tubular piece VW 415 A -C-  . See Fig 1 .

  3. Fit retainer plate (lid). Unless there is a water drain on both sides, fit the water drain (-arrow-  ) in the correct position - i.e. facing downward. Observe tightening torque: 37 Nm (27 ft.lb). See Fig 2 .

  4. Press in wheel hub. To do this, place the wheel hub on the wheel centering device and press it on the wheel bearing inner race using pressure piece VW 415 A (tool C).
