Fault code 4480: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - FAULT CODE 4480

Work instruction Display OK If not OK
1 Check supply voltage of the booster pump for short circuit to ground/open circuit
  • Switch off ignition
  • Pull off the PSM control module plug
  • Measure voltage between PSM control module plug pin 2 and ground
> 11 V
Step 2
Short circuit to ground or open circuit between PSM control module plug pin 2 and fuse F1
-> End
2 Check signal lead of the booster pump for short circuit to voltage
  • Switch on ignition
  • Measure voltage between PSM control module plug pin 4 and ground
< 0.3 V
Step 3
Short circuit to voltage between PSM control module plug pin 4 and pin 1 of PSM booster pump plug
-> End
3 Check signal lead of the booster pump for short circuit to ground
  • Switch off ignition
  • Measure resistance between PSM control module plug pin 4 and ground
> 500 k
Step 4
Short circuit to ground between PSM control module plug pin 4 and pin 1 of PSM booster pump plug
-> End
4 Check signal lead of the booster pump for short circuit to voltage
  • Switch on ignition
  • Measure voltage between PSM control module plug pin 3 and ground
< 0.3 V
Step 5
Short circuit to voltage between PSM control module plug pin 3 and pin 2 of PSM booster pump plug
-> End
5 Check signal lead of the booster pump for short circuit to ground
  • Switch off ignition
  • Measure resistance between PSM controlmodule plug pin 3 and ground
> 500 k
Step 6
Short circuit to ground between PSM control module plug pin 3 and pin 2 of PSM booster pump plug
-> End
6 Check activation of the booster with the PST2
  • Connect the PSM control module plug
  • Pull off the PSM booster pump plug
  • Switch on ignition
  • Diagnostic tester: start drive link test on booster pump
  • Measure voltage between pin 1 of PSM booster pump plug and pin 2 of PSM booster pump plug
> 11 V
Step 7
PSM hydraulic unit faulty
