Navigation control unit function: Coding

Under the menu item Modify coding, the PCM2 codes can be coded on a vehicle and country-specific basis.

CODING ITEM FUNCTION CHART - CD CHANGER (CDC)

Menu item Function
  • ABS pulse number
Using this menu item, you can code the ABS pulse number.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the 911 Turbo (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the 911 Turbo (996) Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select ABS pulse number in the 911 Turbo (996) Navigation coding function selection
  • and confirm using the ">>" key.
  • Enter a value in the mask with the "F8" key.
  • Display format
Using this menu item, you can code the display format.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the 911 Turbo (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Display format in the Navigation coding function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Use the arrow keys to select as required and code with the "F8" key
  • Date
You can code the date using this menu item.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control unit menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the 911 Turbo (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Date in the Navigation coding function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Use the arrow keys to select as required and code with the "F8" key
  • Units
You can code the relevant units country-specifically using this menu item.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the 911 Turbo (996) PCM2 function selection menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the Navigation function selection menu and confirm with the ">>" key
  • Select Units  in the Navigation coding function selection menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select the relevant units  from the menu item that is displayed and code them with the "F8" key.

The following selection is available:
  • Metric, RoW (°C, litre, km)
  • UK English (°C, gallon, mph)
  • US English (°F, gallon, mph)
  • Vehicle type vehicle coding
The PCM2 GW corresponding to the vehicle type can be coded using this menu item.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control unit menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the 911 Turbo (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Vehicle type vehicle coding in the Coding menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996)  in the menu and code with the "F8" key.
  • Vehicle version vehicle coding
The PCM2 GW corresponding to the vehicle version can be coded using this menu item.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control unit menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the 911 Turbo (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Vehicle version in the Navigation coding function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select the relevant version Coupe, Cabrio, Targa in the menu and code with the "F8" key.
  • Right/left-hand drive vehicle coding
The PCM2 GW corresponding to the vehicle model can be coded using this menu item.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Right/left-hand drive vehicle coding  in the navigation coding function selection and confirm with the ">>" key
  • Select Right or left-hand drive  in the menu corresponding to the vehicle equipment and code with the "F8" key.
  • Wheel size
The navigation module can be coded in accordance with the wheel size using this menu item.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Wheel size  in the Navigation coding function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select the wheel size  in the menu corresponding to the vehicle equipment and code with the "F8" key.
  • Height/width in per cent
Using this menu item, you can code the navigation module in accordance with the height/width ratio in per cent.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the 911 Turbo (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Height/width ratio in per cent in the menu corresponding to the vehicle equipment and code with the "F8" key.
  • Air conditioning with/without
You can use this menu to code the navigation module in accordance with the air-conditioning system equipment.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Air conditioning with/without in the Navigation coding function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Air conditioning with/without  corresponding to the equipment in the Modify navigation coding function selection and code with the "F8" key.
  • Country coding
You can code the country code using this menu item.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Country coding  in the Navigation coding function selection and confirm with the ">>" key
  • Select the relevant country coding  from the menu item that is displayed and code it with the "F8" key
  • PCM2 code
You can use this menu item to code the PCM2 code after replacing the PCM2 GW.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the 911 Turbo (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the 911 Turbo (996) Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM2 code in the 911 Turbo (996) Navigation coding function selection
  • and confirm using the ">>" key.
  • Take the PCM2 code from IPAS, enter it in the mask and code it with the "F8" key.
  • Tyre width
You can code the country code using this menu item.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Navigation in the 911 Turbo (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Coding in the 911 Turbo (996) Navigation function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select Country coding in the 911 Turbo (996) Navigation coding function selection
  • and confirm using the ">>" key.
  • Select RoW or USA in the menu that is displayed and code with the "F8" key.
  • Tyre condition
You can code the country code using this menu item.

  • Select RoW or USA in the menu that is displayed and code with the "F8" key.
  • Summer/winter time
You can code the summer/winter time using this menu item.

  • Select Summer/winter time in the Navigation coding function selection and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Code the selection required with the "F8" key.
  • Time
You can code the current time using this menu item.
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 Turbo (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key.

  • Use the arrow keys to select the required Time and code with the "F8" key
