Control module replacement - PCM2

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2004 Porsche Boxster, 2003 Porsche Boxster, 2002 Porsche Boxster, 2001 Porsche Boxster, and 2000 Porsche Boxster. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The PCM2 is provided in active production mode in new vehicles and as a spare part. Each time the vehicle is started, the model range code that is stored is compared with the code in the instrument cluster. If no match is found, the device switches off after 30 seconds and the PROTECTED message appears in the display. The device is not operational.

If a match is found, the device is operational. No further checks are made while the device is connected to the vehicle electrical system.
