Removing belt tensioner

NOTE: As from model year 2002, the three-point belts in the Boxster (986) will contain belt tensioners as standard. After the belt tensioners have been triggered, they must be replaced. The triggering can be read out with the Porsche System Tester using the airbag control module (POSIP). Observe the direction of travel.

  1. Disable the fuse -1-  for the electrical plug on the belt tensioner with a screwdriver in the -direction of the arrow-.

  2. Pull the plug -A-  out of the belt tensioner -arrow-. 
  3. Remove lead -B-  from the lead mount.
  4. Unscrew the fastening screw -C-  and remove the belt tensioner.
