Installing the tension cable

- Fitting the tension cable at the shaped sheetmetal part
- Pull the tension cable -3- in to the seal -5- . See Fig 1 .
- Push the heat-shrinking tube -2- over the tension cable -3- . See Fig 1 .
- Engage the tension cable -3- in the tension spring -4- at the shaped sheetmetal part. See Fig 1 .
- Pull the heat-shrinking tube -2- over the tension spring. Shrink the heat-shrinking tube to the diameter of the tension spring by heating it with a hot-air gun. See Fig 1 .
- Placing the eyelet on the tension cable and measuring the total length
- Push the eyelet fully on to the end of the tension cable.
- Measure the total length of the tension cable from eyelet to eyelet with a tape measure -dimension X = 655 mm- .
- Pressing the tension cable and the eyelet together
Using commercially available crimping pliers -7- press the eyelet -5- together with the tension cable -6- in two places -inset- .
- Fitting the tension cable to the main bow
- Position the tension cable with the clamping rail at the B-pillar (main bow) and screw in place with the fastening screw -1-.
- Fit the convertible-top cover at the front and side of the roof frame. Refer to REPLACING CONVERTIBLE-TOP COVERING .
