High-speed ZR tyres in particular should not be too old - never older than 6 years. The age of the tyre can be determined via the manufacturer's code, which is listed behind the DOT code on the tyre sidewalk The date of manufacture (the last three digits) is located at the end of the code. For the years 1990 to 1999, the 3-digit code is sometimes supplemented by a "triangle suffix".
(Distinguishing feature.)
Example: DOT DM CP 05 Y 065 06 = Production week 6 5 = Production year 1995
