Installing rear spoiler

CAUTION: Damage will result if deformed heat shields are fitted!
  • Damaged or distorted heat shields must be straightened or replaced.
  • Check heat shields for deformation, bonding (detachment of the aluminium layers), tears and missing or damaged sealing strips.
  • After assembling the rear spoiler, check the heat shields for leaks.
REAR SPOILER COMPONENTS INSTALLING PROCEDURE - AS FROM MODEL YEAR 2002

  Check the heat shields on the vehicle before fitting the rear spoiler Observe safety instructions!
    Replace heat shields if necessary.
    Check that the heat shields are properly fitted and correct if necessary
1 Checking anti-chafing film -8-  . See Fig 1 . Check anti-chafing film -10-  . See Fig 1 .
  Check adjustment dimensions of bumper and rear end support, correct if necessary  
2 Connecting plug connection -7-  . See Fig 1 . Connect electrical plug connection -7-  . See Fig 1 .
  Position rear spoiler on the vehicle Make sure that it is fitted free of tension.
    Adjust the joining line of the rear spoiler as shown in the joining plan.
3 Fitting cover moulding -2-  . See Fig 1 . Put on cover moulding -2-1-3-  . See Fig 1 .
4 Screwing in sheetmetal screws -5, 6-  . See Fig 1 . Fasten rear spoiler with sheetmetal screws -5, 6-  . See Fig 1 .
  Check the heat shields on the vehicle after fitting the rear spoiler Observe safety instructions!
    Check that the heat shields are properly fitted and correct if necessary
5 Check gap dimensions -Y-Z-  . See Fig 1 . Projection from rear spoiler: -Y = 11.5 - 16.5 mm-Z = 20 mm-  . See Fig 1 .
