Installing rear bumper

CAUTION: Damage will result if deformed heat shields are fitted!
  • Damaged or distorted heat shields must be straightened or replaced.
  • Check heat shields for deformation, bonding (detachment of the aluminium layers), tears and missing or damaged sealing strips.
  • After assembling the bumper, check the heat shields for leaks.
REAR BUMPER COMPONENTS INSTALLING PROCEDURE

1 Putting on anti-chafing film -1-  . See Fig 1 . Put on sheetmetal nut -2-1-X = 8 mm-  . See Fig 1 .
2 Installing heat shield at the sides -21-  . See Fig 1 . Put on retaining strip at the sides -21-arrow-20-  . See Fig 1 .
3 Installing impact pipe -17-17 A-  . See Fig 1 . Position impact pipe -17-17 A-18-18 A-19-23 Nm (17 ftlb.)-  . See Fig 1 .
4 Installing centre heat shield on top -16-  . See Fig 1 . Screw on centre heat shield on top -16-15-  . See Fig 1 .
5 Installing rear bumper -6--(6A)-  . See Fig 1 . Position heat shield -7-12-10-13-11-6, (6A)-7-8-9-  . See Fig 1 .
  Check the adjustment dimensions of the rear bumper and the assembly of the heat shield and correct if necessary See ADDITIONAL ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION OF THE BUMPER  .
