Fault code 40: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING (FAULT CODE 40)

Work instruction Display OK If not OK
1 Check transponder coil.
  • Pull plug off the signal converter.
  • Measure resistance on plug of the signal converter between pin 1 and pin 2.
 20 - 25 at 20 °C.

2 Check wiring from transponder coil to signal converter for short circuit to ground.
  • Pull plug off transponder coil.
  • Measure resistance between plug on transponder coil pin 1 and ground.
  • Measure resistance between plug on transponder coil pin 2 and ground.
 Step 3 Repair wiring harness.

3 Check wiring from transponder coil to signal converter for short circuit to B+.
  • Measure voltage between plug on transponder coil pin 1 and ground.
  • Measure voltage between plug on transponder coil pin 2 and ground.

Step 4		 Repair wiring harness.

4 Check wiring from transponder coil to signal converter for open circuit.
  • Measure resistance between plug on transponder coil pin 1 and plug on signal converter pin 1.
  • Measure voltage between plug on transponder coil pin 2 and plug on signal converter pin 2.
 Step 6 Repair wiring harness.

  • Replace transponder coil.
 ->End

  • Replace signal converter.
