Spoiler does not extend: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING FAULT CODE 9150 (SPOILER DOES NOT EXTEND)

Work instruction Display OK If not OK
1 Check fuse
  • Check fuse D 7
Step 2 Replace fuse -> End
2 Check spoiler status
  • In the menu item "Input signals", select "Spoiler status"
  • Spoiler completely retracted
Display in Porsche System Tester II 9588: "Spoiler is retracted" Step 13
3 Check spoiler button
  • In menu item "Input signals", select "Spoiler button"
  • Actuate "Extend spoiler" button and perform the function check
Display in Porsche System Tester II 9588: "Extend spoiler" button actuated" Check spoiler button or check the wiring from the spoiler button to the instrument cluster

4 Check relay 3 voltage supply (rear relay carrier)
  • Switch off ignition
  • Disconnect relay 3
  • Measure voltage between relay socket pin 5 and ground
Battery positive voltage

Short circuit to ground / open circuit in the wire between fuse D 7 and relay 3.
Repair wiring harness.

5 Check relay 3 ground lead (rear relay carrier)
  • Measure resistance between relay socket pin 4 and ground
  • Measure resistance between relay socket pin 2 and ground

6 Check control signal from instrument cluster to relay carrier
  • Switch on ignition
  • Actuate "Extend spoiler" button and at the same time measure the voltage between relay socket pin 7 and ground
"Extend spoiler" button actuated
Battery positive voltage

7 Replace relay
  • Switch off ignition
  • Replace relay No. 3 on rear relay carrier
  • Switch on ignition
  • Actuate "Extend spoiler" button

8 Check relay No. 9 ground lead
  • Pull off relay No. 9 on rear relay carrier
  • Measure resistance between relay socket No.9, pin 4 and ground

Repair wiring harness

9 Check relay No. 9
  • Jumper pin 4 and pin 3 on relay no. 9
  • Relay no. 3 is plugged in
  • Actuate "Extend spoiler" button

10 Check wire between instrument cluster and relay No. 3 for short to ground
  • Switch off ignition
  • Remove plug A from the instrument cluster
  • Measure resistance between relay socket pin 7 and ground

11 Check wire between instrument cluster and relay 3 for open circuit
  • Measure resistance between relay socket pin 7 and plug A on the instrument cluster pin 7

12 Check power supply of the spoiler drive
  • Switch off ignition
  • Insert relay No. 9
  • Disconnect plug from the spoiler drive
  • Switch on ignition
  • Actuate "Extend spoiler" button and at the same time measure the voltage between plug X 23 on spoiler drive pin 1 and ground
  • Actuate "Retract spoiler" button and at the same time measure the voltage on plug X 23 of spoiler drive between pin 1 and pin 3
Battery positive voltage

Check wiring between spoiler drive, relay No. 3 and relay No. 9.

13 Check micro switches
  • Disconnect plug connection X 23
  • Remove micro switches
  • Actuate top micro switch by hand and at the same time measure the resistance on the plug of the micro switch (pin side) between pin 2 and pin 5
  • Actuate bottom micro switch by hand and at the same time measure the resistance on the plug of the micro switch (pin side) between pin 4 and pin 5

14 Check ground lead between ground point 8 and micro switch for open circuit
  • Measure resistance between plug connection X 23 pin 5 (sleeve side) and ground

  • Replace micro switch and repeat the function check. If not OK, check wiring to instrument cluster.

  • Replace relay No. 9 on rear relay carrier
