8016 External BOSE amplifier: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING (8016 EXTERNAL BOSE AMPLIFIER)

1 Check wiring harness and right door speaker
  • Connect and start the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and switch on the ignition.
  • Select 911 (996) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Select External BOSE amplifier in the 911 (996) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Select Fault memory in the 911 (996) external BOSE amplifier function selection and confirm with the "FORWORD" key.
  • Read out fault memory.
  • Erase fault memory.
  • Remove ignition key and switch on ignition again.
  • Read out fault memory.
  • Extract ambient data, press the "FORWORD" key.
-> End Fault code is still displayed

2 Check wiring harness and right door speaker
  • Switch off ignition.
  • Pull off plug A on the amplifier.
  • Check resistance on plug A, pins 26 and 31.

3 Check wiring harness to right door speaker
  • Pull off the plugs on the loudspeakers.
  • Check the resistance in the wire between pin 31 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 2 of the plug for the front right door speaker.

Step 4
Open circuit in the wire/short circuit to ground. Repair wiring harness -> End
4 Check wiring harness to right door speaker
  • Check the resistance in the wire between pin 26 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 1 of the plug for the front right door speaker.

Open circuit in the wire/short circuit to ground. Repair wiring harness
-> End
5 Replace right door speaker -> End Step 6
6 Replace amplifier -> End
