Control unit function: Events

NOTE: The occurence of particular system errors is stored in the event memory. Furthermore, it is possible to read out the time of the occurence using the "F8" key. The time is shown in minutes. The events stored in the event memory concern components of the instrument cluster and also components of other control units like PSM or DME. The following system errors are stored in the event memory.

NOTE: During diagnosis, PSM failure is entered into the event memory via communication with the Porsche System Tester II 9588 and the respective warning lights are activated during the automatic control unit search. In this case, no fault is present and the event memory is to be erased after completion of the diagnosis.

TESTER DISPLAY - CAUSES - REMEDY

Brake distributor	System error or system failure of the PSM control unit	Read out PSM fault memory (see PSM diagnosis)
Oil pressure too low	Oil pressure too low (low oil level). Mechanical fault of the oil pressure switch for the oil warning light, oil pump / drive is faulty or malfunctions in the oil circuit	Check the oil level (drain oil and check whether the specified oil quantity has been filled). Check switch for oil warning light
Engine temperature too high	Coolant level too low Malfunction in the coolant circuit	Check coolant level Read out DME fault memory (see DME diagnosis)
