Replacing Fusible Link In Current Distributor

  1. Open cover of current distributor. Disengage lock and fold cover open. Remove cover and service label (original sticker is Green, new sticker will be Red or Blue). See Fig 1.
  2. Carefully lever off fuses cover with a screwdriver. This will break locking tabs so cover can be removed. This cover will not be reused. See Fig 2.
  3. Remove broken tabs. Locate blown fusible link and remove nuts with washers. Nuts and washers cannot be reused.
  4. Insert new fusible link with new washers and nuts. See Fig 3. Tighten to 36 INCH.lbs. (4 N.m).
  5. Fix new service cover (new cover will be Red or Blue, matching the service label).
  6. Place new service label (Red or Blue) on current distributor cover. Close cover until it engages.
  7. Follow reverse order of removal to put current distributor and covers back into place.
