Fault code 9122: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING - FAULT CODE 9122

1	Check sensor for fuel level	Switch off ignition Pull plug off sensor for fuel level Measure resistance on sensor for fuel level (pin side) between pin 2 and pin 3	Depending on tank contents between 10 and 310 Step 2	Step 6
2	Check output voltage of the instrument cluster	Switch on ignition Measure voltage on plug of sensor for fuel level between pin 2 and pin 3	approx. 5 V Step 6	Step 3
3	Check wiring between sensor for fuel level and instrument cluster for short to ground	Switch off ignition Disconnect plug B from the instrument cluster Measure resistance on plug B of the instrument cluster between pin 4 and ground Measure resistance on plug B of the instrument cluster between pin 20 and ground	Step 4	Repair wiring harness -> End
4	Check wiring between sensor for fuel level and instrument cluster for short to B+	Switch on ignition Measure voltage on plug B of instrument cluster between pin 4 and battery ground Measure voltage on plug B of instrument cluster between pin 20 and battery ground	0 V Step 5	Repair wiring harness -> End
5	Check wiring between sensor for fuel level and instrument cluster for contact resistance and open circuit	Switch off ignition Measure resistance between plug B on the instrument cluster pin 4 and plug on the sensor for fuel level, pin 2 Measure resistance between plug B on the instrument cluster pin 20 and plug on the sensor for fuel level, pin 3	< 5 Step 7	Repair wiring harness. -> End
6	Connect the plug on instrument cluster A pin 13 and the fuel supply sensor plug again. Delete fault memory and check whether the fault appears again. If so, replace the sensor for fuel level		-> End
7	Replace instrument cluster		-> End
