8021 Navigation: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING - 8021 NAVIGATION

1 Antenna wiring to the GPS antenna
  • Connect the Porsche System Tester II 9588 to the diagnostic socket; switch on the ignition and the Porsche System Tester II 9588
  • Select 986 as the vehicle type and start the automatic control module search
  • In the Control units menu, select PCM2
  • In the PCM2 menu, select External amplifier
  • Make a selection in the Fault memory menu and start with the ">>" key
  • Read out fault memory
  • Erase fault memory
  • Remove ignition key and switch on ignition again
  • Read out fault memory
  • Extract ambient data, press the ">>" key
-> End Fault code is still displayed
2 Check antenna wiring to the GPS antenna
  • Switch off ignition
  • Pull off antenna on the navigation module
  • Check resistance on plug I to GPS antenna plug

Repair open circuit in wiring

3 Check antenna wiring to the GPS antenna
  • Switch ignition on
  • Measure voltage on plug I to ground
< 1 V
Step 4
Short circuit to B+; Repair wiring harness -> End
4 Replace GPS antenna -> End Step 5
5 Replace navigation module End Step 6
6 Replace PCM2 -> End -br
