Bose diagnosis/troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING - 8005 EXTERNAL BOSE AMPLIFIER

Work instruction Display OK If not OK
1 Check the rear left and right wiring harness and loudspeakers and the right door speaker
  • Connect the Porsche System Tester II 9588 to the diagnostic socket; switch on the ignition and the Porsche System Tester II 9588
  • Select vehicle type, Boxster, and start the automatic control module search
  • In the Control units menu, select PCM2
  • In the PCM2 menu, select External amplifier
  • Make a selection in the Fault memory menu and start with the ">>" key
  • Read out fault memory
  • Erase fault memory
  • Remove ignition key and switch on ignition again
  • Read out fault memory
  • Extract ambient data, press the ">>" key
-> End Fault code is still displayed

2 Check wiring harness and loudspeaker for the right door speaker
  • Switch off ignition
  • Pull off plug A on the amplifier
  • Measure resistance on plug A, pins 26 and 31

3 Check the rear left and right wiring harness and loudspeakers
  • Switch off ignition
  • Pull off plug A on the amplifier
  • Check resistance on plug A, pins 23 and 28
= 4

4 Check right door speaker wire
  • Pull off the plugs on the loudspeakers
  • Check the resistance in the wire between pin 26 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 2 of the plug for the front right door loudspeaker

Open circuit in the wire/short circuit to ground; Repair wiring harness

5 Check right door speaker wire
  • Check the resistance in the wire between pin 31 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 1 of the plug for the front right door loudspeaker

Open circuit in the wire/short circuit to ground; Repair wiring harness
-> End
6 Check the rear left and right loudspeaker wire
  • Check the resistance in the wire between pin 23 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 3 of the plug for the rear left and right loudspeaker
< 0.5
Step 7
Open circuit in the wire/short circuit to ground; Repair wiring harness
-> End
7 Check the rear left and right loudspeaker wire
  • Check the resistance in the wire between pin 28 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 4 of the plug for the rear left and rear right loudspeaker
< 0.5
Step 9
Open circuit in the wire/short circuit to ground; Repair wiring harness
-> End
8 Replace front left loudspeaker -> End Step 10
9 Replace the rear left and right loudspeakers -> End Step 10
10 Replace amplifier -> End -
