DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING FOR HARMAN - 8003 EXTERNAL HARMAN AMPLIFIER

1	Read out external Harman amplifier fault memory	Connect the Porsche System Tester II 9588 to the diagnostic socket, start it and switch on the ignition Select Boxster (986) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key Select External Harman amplifier in the Boxster (986) PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key Select Fault memory in the external Harman amplifier function selection and confirm with the ">>" key Read out fault memory Erase fault memory Remove ignition key and switch on ignition again Read out fault memory Extract ambient data, press the ">>" key	-> End Fault code is still displayed	Step 2
2	Check wiring harness and left dashboard loudspeaker	Switch off ignition Pull off plug A on the amplifier Measure resistance on plug A, pins 5 and 14	= 4 5	Step 3
3	Check wiring harness to left dashboard loudspeaker	Pull off the plugs on the loudspeakers Check the resistance in the wire between pin 5 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 2 of the plug for the front right door loudspeaker	< 0.5 Step 4	Repair open circuit in wiring harness -> End
4	Check wiring harness to left dashboard loudspeaker	Pull off the plug on the left dashboard loudspeaker Check the resistance in the wire between pin 14 on plug A of the amplifier and pin 1 of the plug for the front right door loudspeaker Select	< 0.5 Step 6	Repair open circuit in wire -> End
5	Check wiring harness to left dashboard loudspeaker	Pull off the plugs on the loudspeakers Check the resistance in the wire from pin 5 on plug A of the amplifier to pin 14	Step 6	Repair short circuit in wiring harness -> End
6	Check wiring harness to left dashboard loudspeaker	Check the resistance in the wire from pin 14 on plug A of the amplifier to ground	Step 7	Short circuit to ground Repair wiring harness -> End
7	Check wiring harness to left dashboard loudspeaker	Check the resistance in the wire from pin 5 on plug A of the amplifier to ground	Step 8	Short circuit to ground Repair wiring harness -> End
8	Check wiring harness to left dashboard loudspeaker	Check the voltage of the wire from pin 5 on plug A of the amplifier to ground Switch ignition on	0 V Step 9	Repair short circuit to B+ in the wiring harness -> End
9	Check wiring harness to left dashboard loudspeaker	Check the voltage of the wire from pin 14 on plug A of the amplifier to ground Switch ignition on	0 V Step 10	Repair short circuit to B+ in the wiring harness -> End
10	Check wiring harness and right dashboard loudspeaker	Switch off ignition Pull off plug A on the amplifier Measure resistance on plug A, pins 6 and 15	= 4 13	Step 11
