8009 Pcm2 - MMI: Diagnosis/troubleshooting

DIAGNOSIS/TROUBLESHOOTING - 8009 PCM2 - MMI

Work instruction Display OK If not OK
1 MOST component check runs automatically
  • Connect the Porsche System Tester II 9588 to the diagnostic socket, start it and switch on the ignition
  • Select Boxster (986) in the Vehicle type menu and confirm with the ">>" key
  • Select PCM in the Control units menu and confirm with the ">>" key
  • Select MOST components check in the PCM2 function selection and confirm with the ">>" key
  • Follow the instructions of the tester
The following text is displayed: Test successfully completed. No faults found.

Tester displays an optical fault: Under Faulty device, the tester displays the relevant MOST control module from which a corresponding signal is not recognised

2 Open circuit in MOST, optical
  • Replace the optical waveguide for the MOST control module with the optical wavelength test line 9712
  • Clear fault memory 8009
  • Select MOST components check and start it again with the ">>" key
  • Follow the Tester instructions
The following text is displayed: Test successfully completed. No faults found

3 Replace the optical waveguide -> End
4 Open circuit in MOST, optical If an MMI or GW fault is displayed under step 1:
  • Connect optical output with the optical input of the MOST control module which is installed before the PCM2/CDR23 with the optical waveguide test line 9712
- If only 1 external MOST control module is present and fault memory entry under step 1 is not MMI or GW: If only 1 external MOST control module is present and fault memory entry under step 1 is not MMI or GW: fault memory entry 8009 = MMI or GW

If only 1 external MOST control module is present and fault memory entry under step 1 is not MMI or GW: fault memory entry 8009 is not MMI or GW

  • Connect the optical waveguide test line 9712 with the following Most control module displayed under step 1 (do not change the input of the optical waveguide test line)

- - After installation Optical waveguide test line 9712 :
  • Clear fault memory 8009
  • Select MOST components check and start it again with the ">>" key
  • Follow the Tester instructions

5 Replace the control module displayed under step 1. -> End
6 Replace the control module before the one displayed under step 1. -> End
7 Check the power supply of the displayed control module. Step 6 Repair
-> End
8 Check wiring of the ring break diagnosis line. Step 6 Repair

9 Replace displayed control module -> End
