Wheel Bearing: Removal

  1. Remove brake guard and remove snap ring for angular ball bearing. See Fig 1 .

  2. Heat trailing arm to 248-302°F (120-150°C). Mount arm on a suitable base. Use Special Tool VW 432 or equivalent bearing driver to press out bearing. See Fig 2 .

  3. If necessary, press inner bearing race out of wheel hub using an extractor and Special Tool P 297 A or equivalent driver. See Fig 3 .
