Upshift Indicator

If upshift indicator malfunctions, perform same tests as for Economy Control, using following additional tests.

  1. Check coolant temperature gauge in instrument cluster for proper operation. Signal from tachometer terminal No. 4 is sent to the instrument cluster.
  2. Terminal No. 6 of tachometer should have ignition pulse (ignition coil terminal No. 1) with engine running. If a defect is not found after trouble shooting economy control or upshift indicator, check continuity of wires and contacts. If continuity is correct, and pulse voltage is present, tachometer may be defective.
