Description & Operation

All models have speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge and clock. 928S also has a coolant temperature gauge and voltmeter. The 944 has coolant temperature and fuel consumption gauge. The 911 has an oil temperature gauge and oil level gauge. The speedometer on 911 and 928S is electronic, using a sensor mounted in the transaxle assembly.

All models have economy control and upshift indicator. Both economy control and upshift indicator are integrated into the tachometer. Economy control displays actual fuel consumption in MPG, depending on road speed and injection pulse cycle time.

The upshift indicator light is activated at the most practical and economical time to shift to the next higher gear. It works in 1st through 4th gears, and remains on until the next higher gear is selected or conditions change. The controller for both systems is integral with the tachometer and cannot be replaced separately.
