Upshift Indicator

If the upshift indicator malfunctions, perform same tests as for testing the Economy Control, using the following additional tests.

  1. Check coolant temperature gauge in instrument cluster for proper operation. Signal from tachometer terminal No. 4 is sent to the instrument cluster.
  2. Terminal No. 6 of tachometer should have the ignition pulse (ignition coil terminal No. 1) with the engine running. If a defect is not found after trouble shooting the economy control or upshift indicator, check continuity of wires and contacts. If continuity is correct, and pulse voltage is present, suspect defective tachometer.
