Piston Pin

  1. Mark piston and pin for each cylinder. Inspect piston(s) for excessive wear. See FITTING PISTONS  and FITTING RINGS. Check piston pin-to-piston pin bore clearance.
  2. Check piston pin-to-connecting rod bushing clearance. See CRANKSHAFT & CONNECTING RODS. If clearance is beyond 0.0013" (.032 mm), replace pin or install new rod bushing as necessary.
  3. When installing pin, heat piston to 140°F (60°C). Slide pin into piston. If hard to install, lubricate pin bore lightly. Install pin circlips with opening at top or bottom.
