Checking Cylinders No. 5-8

  1. Install dial gauge on hydraulic lifter of cylinder No. 6 intake valve. Dial gauge must be perpendicular to intake valve.
  2. Turn crankshaft to TDC for cylinder No. 6 and check timing of cylinder bank 5-8. Adjusting value is .079" (2.0 mm) at 20 degrees ATDC on cylinder No. 1.
  3. If the alignment of the pointer and 20 degree mark is not correct, repeat adjustment procedure. Remove the 3 helping bolts after final adjustments and tighten camshaft sprocket bolt to 47 ft. lbs. (65 N.m).
