Brake Caliper: Reassembly

  1. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Use new rubber components, dust cover retaining ring and pad retaining plates. Apply brake cylinder paste to piston and cylinder seal.
  2. Using piston installing clamp, ensure piston is straight with cylinder. Check 20 degrees position of piston with Gauge (P84) and correct using piston rotating pliers (if needed). Replace fluid inlet bolt and adapter seals.

  1. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Use new rubber components, dust cover retaining ring and pad retaining plates.
  2. Apply brake cylinder paste to piston and cylinder seal. Assure piston is straight with cylinder by using piston installing clamp. Check 20 degrees position.

  1. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Use new rubber components and replace damaged dampers and guides.
  2. Apply brake paste to piston, cylinder bore and seal. Push dust cover on inside part of piston so that large diameter sealing lip extends over piston.
  3. Press piston into housing. Small diameter sealing lip should settle in groove of piston. Check 20 degrees position.
