Cleaning & Inspection

  1. Inspect friction surfaces of piston and drum for wear or damage. Check clutch drum ball valve for free movement. Inspect piston springs for wear or collapsed coils and replace as necessary.
  2. Inspect steel (externally splined) clutch plates. If plates are scored or have radial grooves, they must be replaced. Plates that are only discolored can be reused.
  3. Inspect lined (internally splined) clutch plates. Replace any plate that is worn, damaged, or burned.
