Description & Operation

All models have speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge and clock. 928S also has a coolant temperature gauge and voltmeter. The 944 has coolant temperature and fuel consumption gauge. The 911 Carrera has an oil temperature gauge and oil level gauge. The speedometer on 911 Carrera and 928S is electronic, using sensor mounted in the transaxle assembly.

All models have economy control and upshift indicator. Both economy control and upshift indicator are integrated in tachometer. Economy control displays instantaneous fuel consumption in MPG, depending on road speed and injection time.

The upshift indicator lights up when practical and economical to shift to the next higher gear. It works in 1st through 4th gears, and remains on until the next higher gear is selected or the conditions causing display change. The control for both systems is housed in the tachometer and cannot be replaced separately.
