Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW crankshaft front oil seal. Refer to Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Installation .
  2. Install a NEW friction washer.
  3. Position and install a NEW engine front cover gasket to the dowel pins.

  4. Install the engine front cover bolts.
    5. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
    NOTE: The center bolt (1) should be tightened last.
  5. Install the long water pump bolt (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
  7. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  8. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement .
