Installation Procedure

    NOTE: Service the balance shafts as an assembly. Do not disassemble or assemble the balance shafts.
  1. Install the balance shaft bushing using the J 43650:  installer.

  3. Seat the balance shaft bushing into the bore using the J 43650:  installer and a wrench.
  4. When the J 43650:  installer is fully seated in the engine block, remove it with a wrench.

    NOTE: If the balance shafts are not properly timed to the engine, the engine may vibrate or make noise.
  6. Install the balance shaft assemblies to the engine using the following steps:
    1. Place the number 1 piston at top dead center (TDC).
    2. Lubricate the balance shaft lobes with engine oil.
    3. Install the balance shafts into their bores.
  7. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  8. Install the balance shaft retaining bolts and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
