Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the exhaust CMP sensor.
- Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 ohms between the CMP sensor signal low circuit terminal 2 and ground G104.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal low circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PCM.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.0 volts on the CMP sensor 5-volt reference circuit terminal 3.
- If less than the specified range, test for an open/high resistance or short to ground in the 5-volt reference circuit.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PCM.
- Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.0 volts on the CMP sensor signal high circuit terminal 1.
- If less than the specified range, test for an open/high resistance or short to ground in the signal high circuit.
- If greater than the specified range, test the signal high circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PCM.
- Install 3 jumper wires between the harness connector and the CMP sensor.
- Engine running, test for greater than 500 mV AC between the CMP signal high circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, inspect the exhaust camshaft for a damaged CMP sensor reluctor wheel. If the camshaft is normal, replace the CMP sensor.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the PCM.
