Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Apply MP grease to the lip of a new oil seal.
- Wipe any extra grease off the crankshaft.
- Do not tap the oil seal at an angle.
- Using SST and a hammer, tap in the oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.
- Install the flywheel sub-assembly for the manual transaxle.
- Using SST, hold the crankshaft.
- Apply adhesive Three Bond 1324 or equivalent to 2 or 3 end threads of the new bolts.
- Using several steps, uniformly install and tighten the 8 bolts in the sequence.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 49 N.m (36 lb ft).
- Mark the front of the bolts with paint.
- Retighten the 8 bolts an additional 90 degrees in the same sequence.
- Check that the paint marks are now at a 90 degree angle to the front.
- Check that the crankshaft turns smoothly.
- Install the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly-for Automatic Transaxle.
- Using SST, hold the crankshaft.
- Clean the bolts and the bolt holes.
- Apply adhesive Three Bond 1324 or equivalent to 2 or 3 threads of the bolt ends.
- Install the front spacer, drive plate and rear spacer with the 8 bolts. uniformly tighten the 8 bolts in the sequence.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 88 N.m (65 lb ft).
- Install the clutch disc assembly and clutch cover for the manual transaxle.
- Inspect and adjust clutch cover assembly for the manual transaxle.
- Install the manual transaxle assembly for the manual transaxle.
- Install the automatic transaxle assembly for the automatic transaxle.
- Install the engine assembly with transaxle. Refer to Engine Replacement .
IMPORTANT:
Keep the lip free from foreign matter.
