Camshaft Cover Installation

  1. Install the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.

  3. Install a new gasket to the cylinder head cover.

  5. Install 3 new gaskets to the No. 1 camshaft bearing cap.

    NOTE:
    • Remove any oil from the contact surfaces.
    • Install the cylinder head cover within 3 minutes and tighten the bolts within 15 minutes after applying seal packing.
    • Do not start the engine for at least 2 hours after the installation.
  7. Apply Three Bond 1207B or equivalent seal packing.

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  9. Install the cylinder head cover with a new seal washer and the 13 bolts and tighten to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).

  11. Install the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.
  12. Apply a light coat of engine oil to a new O-ring, then install it onto the camshaft timing oil control valve.

  14. Install the 2 camshaft timing oil control valves and bracket with the 2 bolts and tighten to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).

  16. Install the camshaft position sensor.
  17. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring of the sensor.

  19. Install the 2 sensors with the 2 bolts and tighten to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).

  21. Using a 14 mm spark plug wrench, install the 4 spark plugs and tighten to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  23. Install the 2 engine cover joints and tighten to 10 N.m (7 lb ft).

  25. Install the oil filler cap gasket.

  27. Install the oil filler cap sub-assembly.

  29. Install the 2 engine hangers with the 2 bolts and tighten to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).
