Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Warm up the engine, then stop the engine and wait for 5 minutes.
  2. IMPORTANT: Do not fill to above the full level mark.
  3. Check that the engine oil level is between the low level and full level marks on the level gauge. If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.
  4. Check the oil for deterioration, water, discoloring or thinning.

    If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil.

  5. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.

  7. Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch.

  9. Install the oil pressure gauge.
  10. Warm up the engine.
  11. Remove the oil pressure gauge.
  12. Check the oil pressure.

    Specification: 

    • At Idle - 25 kPa (3.6 psi) or more
    • At 3,000 RPM - 150-550 kPa (22-80 psi)

  13. If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump.

  15. Apply adhesive Three Bond 1344 or equivalent. to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch.
  16. NOTE: Refer to FASTENER CAUTION .
  17. Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, install the oil pressure switch.

    Tighten:  Tighten to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

  18. IMPORTANT: Do not start the engine for at least 1 hour after installation
  19. Connect the oil pressure switch connector.
  20. Check for engine oil leaks.
