Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the 2 washer hose clamps and washer hose (2).

  3. Remove the 4 bolts (1) and hood sub-assembly.
  4. Remove the air inlet grill panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .
  5. Align the front wheels facing straight ahead.
  6. Remove the front wheels.
  7. Remove the engine under covers.
  8. Drain the manual transaxle oil.
  9. Remove the engine cover assembly.
  10. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  11. Remove the battery.
  12. Remove the battery tray.

  14. Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission shift lever cables from the control cable bracket (1).
  15. Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission cables from the transaxle (2).
  16. Remove the clutch release cylinder assembly.

  18. Disconnect the back-up light switch connector (1) and wire harness clamp and wire harness.
  19. Secure the steering wheel.
  20. Separate the no. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.
  21. Remove the exhaust pipe assembly.
  22. Remove the front drive shaft assemblies
  23. Install the engine support fixture.
  24. Remove the front suspension crossmember assembly.
  25. Remove the front engine mounting insulator.
  26. Remove the starter assembly.

  28. Remove the nut (1), and disconnect the wire harness clamp and wire harness.

  30. Support the manual transaxle with a transmission jack.

  32. Remove the bolt (1) and wire harness clamp bracket.

  34. Remove the through bolt (2) and nut, then separate the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly LH.

    NOTE: Take care so that the rear side of the engine assembly does not come into contact with the body.
  36. Tilt the manual transaxle downward.

  38. Remove the 3 bolts (1) and the engine mounting bracket LH.

  40. Remove the 6 bolts (1).

  42. Remove the 4 bolts (1) and the manual transaxle.

  44. Remove the 2 bolts (1) and the front engine mounting bracket.
  45. Remove the rear engine mounting insulator.

  47. Remove the 3 bolts (1) and the rear engine mounting bracket.

  49. Remove the 2 bolts (1) and the manual transmission case protector.

  51. Remove the bolt (1) and wire harness clamp bracket.
