Installation Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  1. Install the wire harness clamp bracket with the bolt (1) and tighten to 26 N.m (19 lb ft.

  3. Install the manual transmission case protector with the 2 bolts (1, 2) and tighten to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear engine mounting bracket with the 3 bolts (1) and tighten to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).
  6. Install the rear engine mounting insulator.

  8. Install the front engine mounting bracket with the 2 bolts (1, 2) and tighten to 64 N.m (47 lb ft).
  9. Align the input shaft with the clutch disc and install the manual transaxle onto the engine.

    NOTE: Insert dowel pins into the dowel holes securely so that the end face of the transaxle assembly fits close against the engine assembly before tightening the bolts.
  11. Install the 6 bolts and tighten.
    • bolt (1) to 64 N.m (47 lb ft)
    • bolts (2) to 64 N.m (47 lb ft)
    • bolts (3) to 46 N.m (34 lb ft)
    • bolt (4) to 46 N.m (34 lb ft)

  13. Install the 4 bolts (1) and tighten to 44 N.m (32 lb ft).

  15. Hand tighten the engine mounting bracket LH with the 3 bolts.
  16. Tighten the 3 bolts (1) to 52 N.m (38 lb ft).

  18. Install the engine mounting insulator sub-assembly LH with the through bolt (2) and nut and tighten to 56 N.m (41 lb ft).

  20. Install the wire harness clamp with the bolt (1) and tighten to 13 N.m (9 lb ft).

  22. Install the wire harness with the bolt (1) and tighten to 13 N.m (9 lb ft).
  23. Connect the wire harness to the wire harness clamp.
  24. Install the starter assembly.
  25. Install the front engine mounting insulator.
  26. Install the front suspension crossmember assembly. Refer to Front Suspension Crossmember Replacement (All Wheel Drive) or Front Suspension Crossmember Replacement (Two Wheel Drive) .
  27. Remove the engine support fixture.
  28. Install the front drive shaft assemblies. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side or Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side .
  29. Install the exhaust pipe assembly.
  30. Install the no. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

  32. Connect the wire harness to the wire harness clamp.
  33. Connect the back-up light switch connector (1).
  34. Install the clutch release cylinder assembly.

  36. Install the 2 transmission shift lever cables to the control cable bracket with 2 new clips (1).
  37. Install the 2 transmission cables to the transaxle with the 2 clips (2).
  38. Install the battery tray.
  39. Install the battery.
  40. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  41. Install the air inlet grill panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .

  43. Install the hood assembly with the 4 bolts (1) and tighten to 13 N.m (10 lb ft).

  45. Install the washer hose (2) and 2 washer hose clamps.
  46. Bleed the clutch line.
  47. Add transaxle oil.
  48. Inspect and adjust the transaxle oil.
  49. Install the engine under covers.
  50. Install the front wheels.
  51. Adjust the front wheel alignment.
  52. Install the engine cover.
