Installation Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution
  1. Install the shift lever assembly with the 4 bolts (1) and tighten to 12 N.m (9 lb ft).

  3. Rotate the transmission control cable nut (1) counterclockwise approximately 180 degrees, while holding the nut in that position, push in the stopper until it makes 2 "click" sounds.

  5. Install the outer part of the transmission control cable to the shift lever retainer, check that the position of the spring is the same as (2) shown in the illustration, and push in the stopper.

    If the stopper cannot be pushed in, slightly rotate the nut (3) clockwise and then push in the stopper.

  7. Using a screwdriver, pull the lock piece (1) out from the adjuster case.

    NOTE:
    • With the shift lever in Neutral.
    • Make sure that the lock piece (3) is protruding from the adjuster case.
  9. Install the shift lever cable to the shift lever assembly.
  10. Install the select cable to the shift lever assembly.
  11. NOTE: Securely press in the lock piece until the lock engages.
  12. Press in and lock the lock piece to the adjuster case.
  13. Adjust the transmission shift lever cable.
  14. Install the front floor console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
