Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement: Removal

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
  2. Remove the front floor console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Remove the battery tray.
  5. Remove the engine cover assembly.
  6. Remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly.
  7. Remove the oxygen sensor.
  8. Remove the center exhaust pipe assembly.
  9. Remove the air cleaner case sub-assembly.

  11. Remove the front No. 1 floor heat insulator.
  12. Remove the 3 nuts (1) and the front No. 1 floor heat insulator.
  13. Remove the transmission control cable assembly.
  14. Move the shift lever to N.

  16. Disconnect the end of the transmission control cable assembly (1) from the shift lever assembly.

    NOTE: Do not remove the stopper. If the stopper is removed, reinstall it to its original position.
  18. Pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable.
  19. NOTE: Do not over-rotate the nut as it will come off the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.
  20. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180 degrees, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.

  22. Remove the nut (1) and disconnect the control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.
  23. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control cable bracket.

  25. Disconnect the control cable assembly (1) from the control cable bracket.

  27. Remove the nut (1) and separate the transmission control cable support.

  29. Remove the 2 nuts (1) and separate the transmission control cable assembly.
  30. Pull out the transmission control cable assembly.
