Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    NOTE: Before installing the transmission control cable assembly, check that the park/neutral position switch and the shift lever are in neutral.
  1. Install the transmission control cable assembly.

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  3. Put the transmission control cable into the cabin and connect the transmission control cable with the 2 nuts (1). Tighten the nut to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  5. Install the transmission control cable support with the nut (1) and tighten to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  7. Connect the transmission control cable (1) to the control cable bracket.

  9. Connect the transmission control cable to the bracket with a new clip.
  10. Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the control shaft lever with the nut (1) and tighten to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

  12. Turn the nut of the transmission control cable 180 degrees counterclockwise. While holding the nut (2) in place, push in the stopper until the stopper clicks twice.

    NOTE: If the stopper (1) cannot be pushed in, slightly turn the nut clockwise and then push in the stopper again.
  14. Install the outer part of the transmission control cable to the shift lever retainer. Check that the spring is positioned at "A" and push in the stopper.

  16. Push the 2 claws together at the top of the transmission control cable lock piece. While holding the 2 claws together, push the 2 lugs on the bottom of the lock piece toward each other and upward to pull out the lock piece (1).

    NOTE: Check that the lock piece (1) is pulled up.
  18. Install the cable end all the way to the base of the pin.
  19. Install the cable end to the shift lever assembly.

    NOTE: Securely push in the lock piece (1) until it locks.
  21. Push the lock piece into the adjuster case (2).

  23. Install the front No. 1 floor heat insulator with the 3 nuts (1) and tighten to 5.5 N.m (49 lb in).
  24. Install the air cleaner case sub-assembly.
  25. Install the center exhaust pipe assembly.
  26. Install the oxygen sensor
  27. Install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly.
  28. Install the engine cover assembly.
  29. Install the battery tray.
  30. Install the battery.
  31. Install the front floor console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  32. NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected
  33. Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal.
  34. Inspect the shift lever position.
  35. Adjust the shift lever position.
